49 diptichs, 12x18” each – 31x7’ installed, archival pigment prints, gatorboard, wooden shelves Today, 49 Shades of Grey represents abandoned subdivisions in 49 States paired with each image’s average grayscale and “Sept. 15, 2008”—the date of global economic collapse and a reference to On Kawara’s “date” paintings. Installation includes an empty space for Hawaii which is represented in a related work entitled Aloha. |
